Linda L. Meloy, NCSP, Ph.D., Professor Emerita

Linda is a school psychologist by training and spent 25 years training Masters level teachers, school counselors, and social workers in the area of learning and behavior problems of children and adolescents (special education).

In her retirement, she served six years on the LWVIA State Board as treasurer after being involved in the League for many years, serving in various capacities in the Muscatine League.  For the commemoration of the passage of the 19th Amendment, Linda authored for the Johnson County League And They Persisted…A Century of Impact by Iowa Leagues, gifted to every Iowa public library and all high school social studies departments.  The book was nominated for the Iowa State Historical  Society’s Benjamin Shambaugh Award; a review of it was to appear in the 2022 Annals publication. She made a number of presentations on various content in the book, usually in suffrage costume.

Linda volunteered to serve as Treasurer for the LWVMDM League and for that needed to switch her membership from Johnson County to Metro Des Moines; she continues to live in Iowa City but will be attending some of the activities of Metro as well as the Zoom Board meetings.
